Not yet. Then again, I haven't played the game very much, having gotten it just the other day.

Lost more than I have won, on normal...economic victory by the AI keeps kicking me in the butt.

Working on a Normal game; conquered one Horatio empire and diplo-ninja'd the other by trading tech for all their systems. Killing sophons as we speak.

I thought I was doing great in my second normal game. I had wiped out one of the other races and then stumbled onto an area filled with another race. My biggest fleets had 1800 Military Power, and they had fleets of 3400 MP. Needless to say I got owned pretty fast.

Win on normal - expansion victory. Now I try to conquer on hard I like hardcore.

And one more thing. Devs, PLEASE don't reduce the power of AI or else it will not be interesting to play against them.

8 won 3 lost so far. (Newbie, Easy and Normal)

Longest game 4xx turns.

The AI is not that hard but the sucker loves to cheat smiley: biggrin like 24/15 fleets or 5k kinetic weapon mp on one ship and stuff like that smiley: smile

Won my first game after 9 hours of fun but I got lucky as my home planet was the wormhole connection to the other side of planets. I actually never used the wormhole, just had ships stationed at my home planet to make sure it wouldn't be attacked from that direction. Sometimes the NPCs would send ships through the wormhole from my planet but I never saw any come back the other way. Wasn't until I was down to the last enemy's planet that I realized that two of the AIs never really did anything. They only had controlled ~3 planets each themselves while me and the other AI fought for the other 14. So I sent one of my dread fleets over across the wormhole to see what was exactly over there. 20 planets, all with at least 7-10 pirate fleets at each one. Several pirate fleets just moving from planet to planet hoping to find something. Guess they don't know wormhole technology.

I've only gotten a chance to play one time so far, and I definitely didn't win it. I tried to play Sophons true to description, but it's hard to be a good neighbor when your neighbors are declaring war on you because they believe you to be a race of pansies. I ended up getting trapped in a 3 system cluster while my neighbors fought each other for territory. I thought I had a decent fleet and sent it to push my boundaries outward, but then my neighbors sent their real fleet which whipped mine at long range. And that was pretty much that.

I beat one on newb, then on easy. Gonna try normal tomorrow.

If you're having trouble, I recommend playing Horatio. The population and food bonuses give you a huge economy early on. Try to find a system with 4 to 5 colonizeable planets in the beginning of the game and max out population and industry as fast as possible with an administrative hero. I guarantee you will steamroll the AI as soon as you start pumping out destroyers at a rate of 1+ per turn.

Came to turn 181 (normal) before I came to a standstill and quit. My new game is looking much better though. Wiped out the United Empire as soon as I met them and cornerd the Horatio (I don't think I'll destroy them since they are usefull trade partners). My success may be because of the map though. The galaxy is divided into two halves connected by a single wormhole and since I took care of my neighbors so early I've had half the galaxy to my self. The Cravers have been alone on the other half for the whole game. Will be intresting to se how powerful they have become.
