I'm wondering what peoples impressions are with their first time starting off, like, what did you think of it at first? What did you think about it when you saw everything you could do? And other cool fun stuff. My impression was the amazement with the sheer number of customization I could do with the galaxy. I was thinking to myself "Wow, Im going to be playing this for a very long time, A very, long, time. Then when I got on the tutorials of everything, I was in awe as there was so many things a could chose from, I never saw anything like it before. I knew at that point that things are just barely starting. At first everything was very hard to find, but after a few minutes I finally realized what I need to do and how to do it.

I love the UI more than any game I have seen. The blue icons seem very suiting and the theme doesn't divert in odd ways. The factions are also nice to see. I have played a few quick games and found each faction definitely plays differently. I think I have the Hissho and Cravers left to try. The galaxy customization is neat but I wish ship customization could be improved. I want the option for aesthetic changes to ships not just what ammo it has or the deflectors. On the point of armor, you really have to keep up with the latest armor. If you still have basic plating when an enemy with beam weapons comes in you'll be ripped up. There is a nice learning curve so far and can't wait till I get a good grasp on it. Overall very good game in Alpha and can not wait till the final release. So much more content. *drooling*

Agree, the UI is awesome. I think the standard alpha-bugs and lack of balancing/finishing aside, the only things really wrong with the game are the tutorial, and some of the diplo mechanics(though that kinda fits into balancing).

Overall its revved up to be a really awesome game. smiley: biggrin I cant wait to play the release version.

I keep hearing this but to clarify, this is in the AI's favor? Or ours?

I really enjoy it too, but the pirates are a pain in the a$$ and I wish there was more ship customizations as far as ship designs.

Other than that, its enjoyable once you get the hang of everything!

Its very interesting. AI Battle Balancing is a must, but a hard thing to do considering the battle system. If certain civs and ships always follow a certain pattern, then its all about learning the pattern, then its a cake walk, so replay goes down. But if the computer does a quick peak at what you are doing and decides what it wants to do (which happens a lot in "rock paper scissors" systems) it becomes too much. Right now, it seems to come out mostly to a draw (two checks), with advantages for both sides randomly thrown in.

I have a gripping urge to move the screen with the middle mouse button and to "box select" with left click dragging, but that's just because of other games. There is no real need to select multiple fleets here, and I assume there will be a keyboard setup option in the release.

I would like to see a few more warnings though. For example, when an enemy enters your system, when an enemy takes your system. Perhaps it would also benefit from a system similar to the civ games where you can not end your turn with empty production and research, along with an auto end turn.

Other that, a pretty fun game. Big learning curve, but that is not a problem. I have had my eye on a few space strategy games but something told me to try this one out, and I was not disappointed. It has a lot of potential.

Its not so much in the AI's favor, its just that the AI is so under-developed atm that all they really want to do is kill you. There is no pleasing them. Also, they seem to either not do a thing in easy, or expand like rabbits in normal. Its just weird, doesnt flow well, thats all.
