My first incomplete game

I choosed the Hissho race, based on their look and description, as it was the first game I didn't looked a lot at mechanical bonus.

I started at what looked as a pretty system, only one non-colonizable planet, good resources. I saw the warning about not doing production (or something like that, I don't have the game here now) in the planet, saw the 4 options and choosed the one to produce more food.

Then, in the galaxy map, while clicking on the fleets, for some reason I skipped the message saying that I should right-click to move them (stupid, I know), I was trying to move them using left-click (I think it was due to not other screen in the game uses right-click for something).

After clicking my colony ship, I saw the colonize button, and I colonized a planet in my home system, losing that ship. I was doing things and passing turns until a pirate ship destroyed mine, then I saw how to move ships, realized how to build new colony ships and the diferent options to colonize with ship or in-system; so I decided to start a new game.

In that new game, with Hissho again, I started in something more similar to Dune, lots of desert planets, lava, and inhabitable systems. Fine. First turns were smoother once I knew how to move around and create new ships. The next thing that was no obvious for me was the research system, I needed some turns to see that the benefits provided were the two icons. Another weird thing is that it seems that you cannot "unqueue" a research, the result was a strange and random research queue for the first 30 turns or so.

Now I contacted my 2 neighbours,we're neutral/on peace, but soon we will crash, as we have some controlled systems very near. One strange thing I saw is that a colony ship was not able to colonize one of the empty systems. I think it's caused for being inside a very big ¿influence? area of a rival system (a green circle hat extends a lot), cause I colonized other systems without problems, even with the same ship.

For now, I'm enjoying the game a lot, I'd like more options in the combat system and Hero usage (I already posted my thoughts about the Heroes), but I think that the overall system is quite good. I'd also like to have Heroes from your race and very few "alien" Heroes, cause it seems a little strange from a fluff perspective. And maybe more options to personalize them (I really really enjoyed to change the names of the squad members in my old x-com games)

You can unque research by simply clicking on a new thing to research instead. And you're correct in that you cannot colonize inside opponent's spheres of influence.

A nice intro. As for your problem with research: You can left click on any research to begin researching it. If it's not currently available to you the game will queue the other relevant topics so you can eventually research the one you clicked. If you want to personally select multiple topics for research then you can hold left+shift and then left click and every new topic you click will now be added to the queue. To cancel a queue just single left click on any tech and the old queue will disappear. If this is not happening for you it is likely due to the Steam Community (have to left shift + tab) if you just hit left shift while in the game this should reset the buttons and you'll be back to normal research management. Hope this helps smiley: smile

Another thing with research is that I think it helps to always have something queued, because on the turn a tech is completed, any left over research points seem to go into the next tech in the queue. I'm playing a game as the Sophon where I swear I can research two lower tier techs on the same turn just because I am putting out so many research points.

I too have experienced this. If you queue up multiple 1 turn techs it will complete them all in one turn if you have sufficient points/turn

Well that's a darned useful thing to know. Oh how many turns I've wasted not knowing to shift-click.

I'll try the suggestions to research, thanks.

I'm glad I realized the influence thing, cause I was thinking it was some bug on that system until I saw the big green circle.

I have to say that I was not under the feel of play an "alpha" of a game, but something much more advanced, so greetings for the developers and keep the hard work!
