Hello all! Yet another player who has picked this up after it appeared on Steam. I'm only on my first game, but I'm enjoying it greatly so far! Props to the developers for having it so polished even at the Alpha stage.

So here's my question. How does one build Planetary Improvements, such as 'Lava Transformation'? I've unlocked the tech, and since it has a construction cost of 300, I assume I have to build it somewhere - but can't find it in any of the system or planetary views.

Speaking of which, which transformations make the most sense / which transformations do you usually make and why?

After all each planet type offers a unique resource combination, so I usually just leave them as they are.

Lava planets are good for increasing production. So if you want to specialize a star system in that...transform it accordingly.

Thanks for the reply VieuxChat, Scratch.

Unfortunately there's nothing about the transformation on the Planet View screen, just the four usual exploitation options, and the moon survey bit. I've most certainly unlocked the tech, since I've been building the star system improvement 'Planetary Institute', unlocked by the same tech.

Bug maybe? Or some other unstated requirement?

It would appear that you can only terraform certain "groups" of planets between each other. For example; you might be able to swap from Lava to Barren and back again, but never Lava to Arctic. (This is just an example, not fact) At least that's what I've seen in my games, maybe you've only clicked on planets that can't actually be terraformed into the planets you have the tech for.

My bad, I've now figured out that Lava Transformation is to transform another planet into a Lava world, rather than some sort of environmental improvement to a lava world itself.

Sadly, you can't combine two lava worlds to make a plasma world, and two plasma worlds to make carbonite world. smiley: wink More seriously, it depends on your terraforming tech. If you have it ridiculously high, Jungle worlds are fantastic in every sense of the word - though they can't compete directly for any one resource. If you want to specialize, lava is good for production, desert for commerce, arctic for science, and any of the 'habitable' or semihabitable types for food. Also - you may be able to clip away some of the side-effects of worlds you have, if you're looking for local terraforming. Things like negative approval from shattered crusts for example.

Best answer yet! Sadly, weaponizing stellar converters may have to wait~

Actually, I think my next objective will be to convert defeated enemies homeworld's into barren planets. Something about the folly of war. Ayup.
