Hovering over the upper left corner of the main map gives a list of scores.



But the order of the list changes, which I'm guessing is "status." So what is this Status ranking thing?

You mean when you hover on the Galaxy icon?If it that's what you are talking about,then it is the sum of FIDS,military strength and knowledge.

How is that different from the score that is displayed? The top score is not the top rank. What is the difference between the two?

I am confused,are we talking about the same button?

IIRC, FIDS is only part of your total score.



Your score also adds number of planets, number of ships, research, treaties and I probably forgot something else too.

Notice that I am the Blue score in the upper left, the top rank. I did not start in this position. At the beginning of the game, I was in the lower right.



See also that my numerical score is not the highest score, and neither is it the lowest score.



Therefore, position in the list says something about you that is different from the numerical score.



Now that I look at it, I think "Status" means the green checkmarks about have people taken their turn already.

I think status is if an empire was destroyed or is still playing (and maybe in multiplayer, a kind of "afk" status meaning that you're not on the computer.

Status will probably makes more sense for Multiplayer, but right now...

you can have your turn.... turn done or dead empire.



And yes, now I see what you means with the ranking thingie.

When you have not yet discovered a race, the status/name of the race is "unknown". That's probably meant with status.
