So what are you guys impressions on the current system governers.

I personally feel like they are not very orginised and are rather build happy, like how thet tend to build improvements that really give little benifit at all.

There also seems to be a lack of a ship building governer, although this might be to prevent them from destroying the economy. smiley: stickouttongue

I haven't been too impressed with their AI. I think that a lot of the time they build random improvements that don't really correspond to the systems' needs. Most of the time when I check in on them I end up just shaking my head...

It seems like they need a fair bit of tweaking still but others have probably had different experiences. Note: I am still on my first game.

Well they did tend to have some sence of direction, but its not that great.

The best thing the developers could do is have the governers use the stratigys that some of the really good players use to improve the systems (Like knowing when to expand to extra planets or when to build a spasific improvement) that way they would seem to be somwhat intellegent to be at least getting the right resualts at the right times.

I haven't touched them. If they build improvements the way the AI has built them on the worlds I capture, the governors won't be worth the trouble. The AI in this game doesn't seem to understand the buildings as they are.

The AI governers do seem to follow the "suggested" direction (happiness, food, research, etc) until there is nothing more down that line to build, and then they build whatever other enhancements are available. However, they seem to completely ignore exploitations and obviously there is no colonization. It would be nice if there were more granular options, of if you could set priorities for type of enhancements (dust generating, food generating, etc).

They seem pretty bad. I don't bother until my economy is already really strong, and only on systems I don't care about (i.e. science/dust focused ones). I tried to use one to build science, and it kept wanting to build an improvement that would have given 0 benefit (the right planet types weren't there). They really need to be improved to avoid building useless improvements.

I've seen the governor build system exploitation developments and haven't had a terrible experience with it. I generally let the governor take control of everything, especially when my empire starts to grow really large. And you can also have it focus on many different areas, like dust production, industry, food, science, etc.

I think governors are alright, you have to put the good governor at the right place, depending on their initial skills.

I don't think he meant heroes, but the AIs you can use to develop your systems, those have no initial skills.

You can give them a rough direction and then they take over automatically.
