On my last game i had two systems near a third system of another race

my influence level and improvements meant my territory extended a good way past this alien system

other than the fact that if we didnt have open borders he couldnt move any ships to that planet

is there any sort of gradual creep towards rebelling to my empire planned?

vis a vis civ's cultural creep whereby if your area of influence area was close to another city they would eventually rebel

seeing as you can trade systems off other races, and you cant tell me the idea is that they remove every single person of theirs and i move however many million people in,

or even if thats not possible, some sort of influence negative modifier where that systems fids decrease?

I have to wonder about influence also. There are several buildings that increase it but I'm not sure that it does much good. If anything it just pisses the AI off. It is nice having huge sight radii though.

indeed i had one system with a large amount of pop that seems to influence influence, pardon the pun lol

along with all the improvements for it, and a moon with a temple that increased the influence range as well

its influence range actually reached the borders of my empire in a 15ish system cluster in sort of a squashed circle lol

it seems to only matter if you are at a very neutral relationship with someone

which is rare to acquire and keep

as it seems they either start getting real friendly and proposing open borders, or getting down right angry and declaring war, both of which seem to invalidate the influence area

It also forbids other races (neutral) going to your star systems.

As you maybe saw it once, when you want to travel to a star system within the influence circle of another race (neutral), you can't travel to it.

true, but the races ive met either swiftly declare war or sue for open borders, ive yet to try rejecting them to see if it annoys them

I reject open boarders all the time with little negative effect.... Although i usually have a strong military to put them off.

Right but since each system projects its own influence eventually it doesn't really seem to be worth much to have the influence when you have the time to build the mods for it.
