I've spent an hour reading about the game, posts from the developers and the community...there is something very cool and special going on here. There is definitely something to be said for a Dev team/company that creates the tools for, and actively engages/encourages the participation of their fan base in the creation of their game. My hat is off to you guys... and my wallet will soon be open as well! smiley: smile It's been a long long time since I've been excited about Pre-Purchasing a game!

I agree with you 100%.

What is so nice about this system is, that it reminds you of the process of developing software specifically for a customer:

You create something and than talk to the customer again about what to improve and what he wants in a different way. I think this feedback can be great.

I somewhat disagree. I don't think excessive community input is a good thing. Often consumers just don't know what they want.

I was a part of the elemental failure on the stardock forums. And the devs shoudln't have listened too much to the community. But Amplitude has a strong design document and are efficiently enough to just gather the information they really need.

Of course it's not perfect. But the customer never knows what he wants - only what he doesn't. smiley: wink

And with such a large community not everyone agrees.

That makes it more difficult to really make the best of the feedback. But so far Amplitude seems to do a great job in filtering the feedback and taking the best information from it.

Of course it happens all the time that people start to disagree. Reason why then a new suggestion pops up to make it optional if possible and added. And you have to bear in mind that the Devs still got the last word on everything, this isn't a "ideal democracy" where consumers in numbers prevail. If the devs for example pick 3 designs they like and throw it out to us to give our opinion of it.

I myself have read some good suggestions, some too ambitious and lastly some that just seem plain bad. But the whole idea and concept is great overall, people give feedback and devs get more perspective and ideas.
