I have had the idea of a 'skirmish' option for combatting fleets, that way fleets can use their extreame long-range weapons and possible smaller craft to harrass an enemy fleet. With phases like, dog-fighting and swarming the fleets PD before you hit the main targets.



while un-likely to be killing fleets, cripling the right ship before the actual battle might prove critical in a tough war.





But who knows, maby its a little too far fetched.
