struggling to keep up with AI

How does the AI manage to get so far ahead. They are at about 7000 points and i am at 2000. How have they managed this difference i wouldnt say i am playing the game particularly bad, maybe not as well as other people but certainly not to this extent i would of thought. Any tips to play better, or is everyone finding they are having this problem?

Are they Hisshos or cravers?

There are several bugs with the AI at the moment and has even been reported to blatently cheat!

may your empire have the best luck, as i feel the storms of war are brewing....

Fixes/improvements to the AI are coming with the next Alpha version which is should be released the next week. Expect a lot of changes to the AI during the Alpha and the Beta.

If you run into a massive enemy fleet, it is a known bug that will be fixed shortly

As everyone else has said, many of us have experienced this. Just wait until the next update before playing because the AI is unstoppable due to this bug.

In terms of score, it is hugely important to keep your population at "ecstatic" happiness in the beginning. Run your tax rate down to see the increase. Even if you are a little negative in dust, it is OK. You should try to get one administrator hero in your home system, which requires 22 dust for one turn. See some of these links:

And colonise like there's no tomorrow! Because, you know, if you don't there won't be...

The first games I played I focussed more on making sure the stars I had ran smoothly than on settling everywhere else, and I was overrun almost at once.

Now I settle as much as possible early on, and it has made the game a lot easier.
