Do we get phasers

So far all my beem weapons have been small beems, that that diffrent from the kenetics. But as we upgrade, do we get propper phasers, that is a solid line from one ship to another, like Star Trek.



If not is this something that could be moded, or would not the engien handle it?

As long as we get the cool 'buzz fzzt' effect from star trek for them I will be happy

lol there will be mods, why not come out with a cool mods. I mean trying to make es into a star trek. star wars clone is a shame. Let es be the great game it will be, and then add mods to tweak it how you want.

To be honest, there may not even need to be more weapons added for this but rather just a change in art for certain weapons....



However not sure how you would convert current fire information in weapons over to a continuous beam weapon. Perhaps have all continuous energy weapons have a fixed duration and just change the weapon statistic to reflect the degree of focus on the weapon?

One reason beams may not work so well in this game is that on my ships, I have anywhere from 6-10 of them on average for my "Beam Cruisers". Can you imagine Multiple ships with upwards of 10 solid beams being emitted at a time? But I would like to see the beam weapons look more like teardrops and have the kinetics look more like "lines" than they do at present. Just my 2c.

One possibility is to make it so that the more beam weapons you have, you don't actualy fire more of them,. but you can fire more often a solid beam, or that the more beam weapons you have the more powerfull the beam is, kinda like each beam weapon is more like a generator, the more generator you have, the more powerfull it is.

Biggest issue I see with changing the energy weapons into "streams" is that they don't deal damage as you'd expect as a first time player. You'd have to change their damage system to a sort of "Damage over Time" constant damage model, instead of dealing damage every X seconds.



That change would make them noticeably different from the other weapons though. Maybe make the streams short bursts for 2-3 seconds that "home in" and eventually pass the ship. (like a sword cleaving something. It passes through from one side and exits on the other side)
