Allowing "saving" custom race presets for later use (And the AI)

So - I was thinking that with the custom race feature making its way into the game at some point, it would mean a strange gameplay change for singleplayer. In older games with the feature (like MOO2), only the player could play a custom race. The AI was forced to play as the predefined races instead.

So how about we get a sort of "race bank" to save our custom races into, that are accessible to the AI as well to spice up the replayability for those of us who don't play against other players much. (It also reminds me of Spore where you could meet your own creations elsewhere)

Thoughts, Opinions?

(If this has been suggested before, feel free to close and put a link to the other thread - I couldn't find any though)

I might be remembering this wrong but I believe that having the AI use custom races is really difficult because each of the AI's is modeled for all of the different races in the game, and it would would the creation of a custom AI routine to handle any tweaks made by the player.

It would be a great feature but not a make or break thing for me, custom races for human players will be great though

True - it depends wholly on how the AI is set up. But in games like Civ 4? the AI used a priority system as I recall for each building/tech they could research. It didn't feature much (if any) "race" specific code.

If the racial traits system is given a similar system, I'm sure the AI could do well enough with whatever you throw at it. Mileage will vary of course, but that goes for every "on the spot" AI.
