Destroy a colony

I think for strategic reasons, there should be the option to raze colonies. Sometimes it's worth it just to capture and destroy an enemy colony even if you don't have the resources to hold said colony. It should at least be an option to destroy pop and infrastructure.

I would like an option to wipe out all the people. Frankly I have to suspend belief that those Cravers in the system I captured will after a few years come around to liking me (or any species for that matter). From my understanding of them, they hate everyone and are kinda like a plague/borg species. In general their systems have had their resources eaten up for whatever reason, I don't want to deal with those systems. Would just like to eradicate them personally.

Oh yeah, bombardment is very much happening already. Just see what the support mods are for invasion, artillery and whatnot. When you're invading a system you're brutally attacking and subjugating the population, which is why after taking a system there should be extensive damage to improvements and population and yes they should not be happy about it at all. I also don't buy the idea of eliminating the population, perhaps it should be possible but it should take much, much longer. Planets are huge, systems of planets are an immense undertaking, any attack that would eliminate a native population would likely make the planets nearly uninhabitable, especially in the early game. This should be a much bigger deal than it is currently.

Additionally as I think about it, the less desirable worlds (asteroids, lava planets) etc. should be easier to conquer than terran or jungle worlds as the populations on the former would be far more vulnerable than on the latter.

The way that invasion is abstracted right now (no troop transports, just a fleet power calculation over time) you could argue that it is already taking into account bombardments to soften up the ground opposition for invasions. However, the point still stands that being able to glass the planet should be an option, perhaps with a reputation/diplomacy penalty associated with it.

Yes, bombardment from the orbit was also possible in MOO I think. There you could even do it until noone was left on that planet. (free to colonize then)

If you want to takeover the planet then you can first bombard and then jump into invasion by ground troops or if your army is strong enough directly go to ground invasion.

How about doing that for Endless Space? I mean you can't really takeover a planet without a ground invasion, right? At least that doesn't sound very realistic.

To be fair, its kind of roundabout, and from a design standpoint there should be a check that says if(playerHabitablePlanet != TRUE) then playerTerraformPlanet = FALSE.

But as a workaround, that seems quite effective! Also, a "nuke the colony from orbit" thing should totally exist. Maybe with a heavy diplomatic penalty or something.

The good option is, (a) control-click all the needless buildings and scrap them to minimize the dust loss, then (b) put infinite supermarkets and colonial contracts to get the happiness up. The evil option is, terraform to something you cannot inhabit.

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Hello!

I captured a star system, but the previous owner colonized all the planets in it and I have 1,1% of happiness...

So i want to destroy 2 or 3 planets but i want to know if its possible? Or abandon a planet? Because I don't know wat to do now with this XD

The only quick solution that comes to mind is researching and building something that makes them happy (colonial rights, information highway etc), having a hero with propaganda skills or changing the taxing for a while. smiley: confused Without them it might take a while to get them to like you (expecially if they are all on really nasty planets like gas giants with meteor showers) Atleast you get to keep their infastructure.

Yeah I'm pretty sure planets can't even starve to death, just down to 1 population.
