I always got a prefix for all my ships like DD, CA, BB and DN. Destroyers, Cruisers, Battleships and Dreadnaughts. And then names as I see fit at the moment. But my first all missle ship is always called Archer.

As I almost exclusively play as the United Empire I name my ships with the prefix ISS for Imperial Star Ship (obviously a play on the prefix USS). The actual name of the ship pretty much varies on my mood at the time but I do steal names from the lost fleet series of which I am a huge fan. Ships other than combat ships I will attach other prefixes such as ICS (Imperial Colony Ship) or IMLC (Imperial Marine Colony Ship) for corvettes that I arm exclusively with orbital bombardment armaments.

Acolytes, Priests, and finally Bishop and Pope.

Craver ships get named insectoid themed names. Wasp, Hornet and finally Hives or Queens for the big ones.

Cool! I name my Sophon stuff after angels, but the Pilgirms then custom race will be stealing that. Ship classes are Cherubim, Ophanim, Seraphim, etc. Fleets are Charity, Humility, Temperance, etc. If I could, individual ships would be Michael, Gabriel, etc.

My United Empire gets Norse myth. Freya class cruiser, Thor class battleship, etc., I. Fleets named Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim, Svaltheim, etc

I haven't gotten full name themes for everyone else in my head yet.

Fleet names for me describe the role of all the ships made: Support 1-3, Invasion, Blockade, Defense.

Ship names are the creative bit, so far all I play is Hissho: Tyr, Tyrranis, Tyradis, Ardonis, Zurdanis.

A few of my Empire ships have been loosely evoked from British naval history...

Crocodile, Cumberland, Fletcher, Scimitar, Birkenhead etc.

My bigger ships and classes have a little more flair...

Styracosaur, Carcharodon etc.

I name mine after bladed weapons.

Destroyers are 'Dagger'

Cruisers are 'Saber'

Battleships are 'Katana'

and Dreads are 'Claymore'

Sometimes Ill specialize and add Broadsword, or another type to the mix.

I use the 8 Epitaphs as my ship names. I wonder if anyone here will get the reference haha

Scout = Innis

Colonizer = Corbenik

Corvette = Magus

Corvette 2 = Gorre (since I usually have 2 types)

Destroyer = Tarvos

Cruiser = Macha

Battleship = Fidchell

Dreadnaught = Skeith

As Sophons I sorta carry on the naming trend already in place.

Scout = Investigator (As default)

Combat Scout = Discoverer

Corvette = Protector (As default)

Interceptor Corvette = Sentinel

Destroyer = Aggressor

Cruiser = Vanguard

Battleship = Guardian

Dreadnaught = Archangel

bumblebee, wasp, yellowjacket, hornet

kitten, cougar, puma, jaguar

finch, owl, eagle, falcon

and so forth.

I have drawn up lists of what I like to name my ships in preparation for multiplayer, and I want to see your ideas too!

These names include:

*Pilgrim: Acolyte, Disciple, Zealot, Radiance, Templar, Crusader, and Salvation

*Horatio: Mirage, Serpentine, Amethyst, Obsidian, Ambrosian

*United Empire: Legionary, Tribune, Noble, Imperial, Emperor

*Sophon: Ripple, Riddle

*Craver: Hunter, Hungerer, Ripper, Hive

So there are mine, now I want to see what you come up with!

I usually name mine after Sins of a Solar empire ships. Like for Destroyers I name them Cobalt for combat destroyers, and Krosov for siege ones. Cruisers, Hirroshikos for healer ones, and Kodiaks for more offensive ones. Battleships I name Kols they're usually decked out in offensive capabilities so yea. Dreadnoughts I name Ragnarov, which are offensive. I may make a second class dread that's more defensive named Ankylon. BTW I've only played UE and Sophons and all those names apply to UE. Sophons I name after the advent in SoaSE like Acolyte, Crusader, Radiance, Coronata, Revelation, and Purity (for SoaSE players i know that's not an Advent ship name.)

Yorkie and I have the same idea. My ships have such wonderful names as "Beams" if I'm feeling brief or "Beams + Flak" if I want the defense type in there too. Of course I reserve the right to add in a new defense or change the old one out entirely, and I can never change the name, but it sounds so much better than "Warship".

I don't tend to be very creative in the ship design screen.

I use either NATO phoneticals, Roman deities or I name them after the home planet and colonies.
