[Discussion] Random Seed + Balance

Ran into a situation where I ended up with no Titanium, Hex or (forget what the next one is in the tech tree) in any of the 8 systems I occupied on hard. Result was that I couldn't build cruisers or use construct the advanced weapon modules because of the requirements. Perhaps there should be a conditional check to see if there are sufficient critical supplies in the immediate starting area to ensure balanced gameplay? Not having one or two of these resources you can get around but being locked out of 3 of the early game (50 turns in) materials cripples your military.



You'd think having 8 systems and 31 planets one would have all of them instead of none, statistically speaking anyway. Had the settings set to high resources as well.



Yes, that is the nature of randomly generated maps but I think that this is a bit much.

The alpha release notes mention:

• Certain galaxy generations will result in extremely difficult start. It is currently being fixed.


But I don't know if that refers to purely layout, or to resources as well.
