Hello Amplitude Community.

I'd like to echo a few simple suggestions already made elsewhere on these boards:

a) Planets and their moons absolutely should rotate/orbit respectively - I think this would look seriously good and can't for the life of me figure why it wasn't done from the outset (is it difficult to program/model?)

b) Suns on the tactical map should also rotate/orbit - the teeny little binary suns for example. The little galaxy-shaped red ones should spin. etc.

c) continuing from b) - quite a few from the ES community have wished the galaxy could have a little more 'terrain'. I think that if this was worked on, this would go a long way to adress the main criticism of ES as a whole - that the galaxy lacks 'personality'.

To remedy this, i'd take some inspiration from Master of Orion 2:

1) Nebulas - they could slow ship movement, like in MOO2. Also, beam defence modules are at -50%

2) Asteroid fields - they could damage ships like minefields. Also, missle weapons are at -50%

3) Black holes that block movement completely as in MOO2.

4) Dark matter zone - disables repair modules. Reduces the effectiveness of kinetic weapons by 50%

5) Insert your idea here - just watch a few good star treks or sci-fi movies to get some ideas! The important thing is they give the galaxy 'terrain' and make you want to conquer it. They should have a tactical effect also.
