One thing I found was trying to find a specific type of tech. For example, if i wanted to find some all the system buildings that effect build rate, it could have a list that say for example you click on Star System Improvements, then Build Rate then it will show all the buildings like Heavy Isotope Refineries and Predictive Logistics, and if i click on one, then it goes to the tech that opens that item on the development tree. Another example would be Ships, Ship Class, then click on dreadnought and it would bring you to Non-Baryonic Shielding in the tree. This is especially helpful with finding the right Star System Improvement or Planetary Exploitation since they seem to appear in 3 out of the four trees.

A lot of this comes with just knowing the tech tree and the game. So with experience I don't see how this is that helpful.
