I found it disturbing that after I hit the conquer the galaxy victory condition the game ended abruptly. Wouldn't it be better to let the user decide if he wants to continue playing (for example to wipe all races and colonize all planets) instead of simply kicking him out of the game? At least I did not find a way to continue playing.
