MAC - Crash on start up

Hi, I've installed ES on my MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011), but it keeps crushing. I start the game, I see the developers logos, then I see the loading screen with "Endless Space" logo and then it crashes to desktop without any messages.


I went through several forum posts about this and I've already tried several solutions, but nothing seems to work. Things I tried include:


• Deleting and re-downloading ES

• Restarting computer/steam

• Disabling steam overlay

• Deleting Saved Application State

• Starting the game with root user

• Starting the game with "-novideo" option - then it jumps straight to the loading screen and crushes immediately

• Turning the firewall off


Could you please help me?


I also remember that I've tried downloading and running it on this mac like half a year ago and I'm quite convinced that I got to the menu back then.

Ha! I've got something for you. I went through the logs and found out the game is trying to acces things in "Public_xp1" (in the game folder). However there is only a folder "Public". I've copied "Public" and renamed it to "Public_xp1" and boom - I'm in the menu!


I have no idea if it will work further however and I don't know why it is trying to acces the non-existent folder. Maybe "Public_xp1" is supposed to be for the DLC files?


PS: Important note I've forgotten to mention - I have the DLC Disharmony

Ok, seems like my assumption is correct. When I start a game with DLC, it throws some error messages at me. It let's me keep "playing", but there is no interface and when I click on the system, I get another error message and I can't get any further. When I start a game in vanilla however, everything seems to work (so far). So I guess my problem is that I'm missing the DLC files. Is there a way I can fix this?

Hi, Any news on this?


Trying to run via Steam on 5k iMac. I only get the two intro videos, can't start the game at all. 


Copying the public and renaming to public_xp1 makes for a very buggy game, so clearly not really a fix.  The -vanilla launch option doesnt seem to have any effect. 

Is this to do with the harmony DLC integration PC users had earlier in the year?


Would love to dig into this one before moving on to the new game.

Not really, no news. I am now able to play the vanilla with "-vanilla" launch options and everything seems to run ok. But I can't play Disharmony.


So yeah, I think there is definitely some problem with the DLCs, but it seems to me that the problem is, Steam doesn't even download it properly.

Where can I send the errror files.

Yeah, not buying the new game if the 1st one isn't supported on Mac.  I've also seen threads on Steam about it crashing on Sierra.

This is the support site Steam sends me to! This game has NOT been patched yet, it's been over 3 months. It's lovely there's a sequal is out, but being locked out of a game that is advertised to be compatible with the latest MacOS does not make me keen to purchase the next one. Would be good to hear from support finally
