I was wondering if there will organic technology such as living ships or symbiotic equipment of some kind in this game. Of course, it would be great to have a race that has this as their shtick, but I'd also be nice to know if we'll be able to research something of that sort. I'm a huge fan of this concept myself, but wether or not it'll be featured in the game won't affect my decision to get it. if anything, knowing that it'll be featured in the game would make want to play it even more ^^

Honestly, I would be very excited were this to be in the game. I hope it is in the vanilla version, though I wouldn't be heart broken if it was an expansion deal. I suppose that would mean a drastically different tech tree from the other more synthetic tech'd species.

Definately a very interesting avenue to explore.

At the moment we have a "human" race, a computer race, it leaves a lot of room for strange things. Non-carbonic life would be awesome.

We also have a conscious crystalline in the game,but they seem like an NPC race.

NPC race ? Sounds interesting ! Why not playable ? I know it would be hard for such a race to communicate. But that would be so refreshing to play it. Technology would be really different too.

If I remember correctly in the tech tree screenshot, one of the technologies is called Organic Armor or something along those lines. So I would say that chances are that this is already in the game, in some minor form at least. Although I wouldn't be surprised if this is limited to self repairing armor/hulls only.

I hope that you can use the race when designing a custom race. I think you could do this in galciv, play as the evil squirrel empire?

I doubt there will be any NPC-races (besides the Pirates) as this is afterall a 4x game without a campaign.

However organic tech is nice.

LOL, an awesome feature... Id really love to see the non-lethal weaponry except by indirect effects... Cookie-dough-gun... Death by dough-eating.

I would like to see organic technology, but hopefully it wouldn't all be confined to a single race. I think it would make a nice component of the larger tech tree.

It'd be an interesting technology. It could allow the inclusion of bio-weapons in ship to ship combat. Give an enemy vessel a cold to stop it in its tracks

i'm hoping for an Ornithopter type race (Rama anyone?) which managed a symbiotic society of genetically modified sub species into an idealistic and holistic equilibrium. imagine fields of vats full of electric 'fish' flinging themselves at a metal screen dividing their tank from their food source... thereby charging attached batteries organically.

organic tech could show up in a variety of ways -- sentient ships, psionic communications, evolving genetic permutations for any planetary/atmospheric requirement, cloning obviously, energy absorbtion and/or reflection of beam weapon types, the list goes on ad nauseum.

i do want to create a race but feel it is worth waiting to see what is included to avoid unnecessary repetition.
