Colonizing and Population

Whenever I go to colonize another planet in an already established system the game automatically moves all my population to the new colony. It drives me crazy when I have them on a nice planet, and I want a strategic resource and it moves all my people to a planet with hostile fauna or high gravity. It'd be nice if instead you just moved one population unit instead of all but one population unit.

Isn't the game supposed to auto-assign population to the places wherever they produce the most FIDS? That doesn't seem to work for me. I end up manually assigning workers if I want to optimize things.

It doesn't help that once I'm thinking about manual assignments, I usually come to the conclusion that what I want most is food. I wish the FID icons were clickable so I could tell the system to move workers around to optimize for a resource. Click the food icon and bam, all the workers move to food-optimized planets. Click the dust icon and bam, all the workers move to dust-optimized planets.

Yeah sort like Civ 5.

I should make that a formal feature request or something. IS there a formal feature request method, or should I just leave it hanging here on the forums and hope someone notices?
