I am trying my best to learn the game and due to the dead AI crashing bug i am forced to run 1 vs 1. How ever even on newbie the AI seems to expand, research and build 4 times faster than me and I always get rofl stomped into the ground.



In short:



Can i set up dedicated teams (like other strategy games) so I have an AI meat shield between me and the enemy so I can live long enough to actually learn (im not very good at these types of games)?

If you want to learn the game, play with just 2 factions, on a huge map and in easy. You'll have time to learn.

As VieuxChat said what you're asking is not possible currently. There already are (and will be) strategy guides that can help you improve your gameplay. We are restructuring the forums so at some point these will be collected in one place. The game is not so complex so take your time and go through the tutorials, I've noticed a lot of people are skipping them and then are wondering what this or that feature is. Knowing the basics of the game will make it easier for you to understand the tactics and strategy hints other members are providing. Answered, closed
