How ressources work ?

Hi,



I don't understant very well how resources works.



1) I understand that luxury give bonus to FIDS and strategic allows construction, and get several of the same type give you monopoly, but how monopoly is calculated ?



2) To have multiple instance of the same resource is only useful for monopoly and so dust ?



3) How military industrial complex works ? It give +1 stockpile but when I build one, my resources seems not to change.

1) You reach a monopoly, once you get four or more of a resource.

2) No, on that planet the bonus for that resource seems to be multiplied.

3) I haven't played UE, yet, so I cannot help you there. smiley: wink

Are you sure that multiple resources multiply the FIDS bonus on the planet itself? I haven't noticed that... If it's true, that will change my strategies!

That's the reason for poor, medium and large deposits, i reckon. I've built my strategies that way, so far, and I'm running quite well with it (holding out 140 turns+ until the game stops on serious difficulty). I'm only 90% sure of that fact though.

I still want a firm confirmation on whether rich deposits really do offer three times the bonus. I haven't been able to figure this out in the game. For many of the resources that would be absolutely massive, and it would certainly increase the power of the Military-Industrial Complex structure.



The reason why Military-Industrial Complex would be expensive is that if you have excess of 'limiter' resources, it reduces the price of components and structures which require the resources. Also, luxury resources don't provide that bonus, but they have stacking effects. For instance, every instance of Virtual Artifacts you have is worth a 2% boost to industry empire-wide. That's worth building a rather expensive structure on! So are many of the luxuries.

I have confirmed that Rich deposits do offer 3x the bonus. I'm sorry I don't have any save or image evidence with me, but after reading this thread I kept an eye on my resources and FIDS while playing last night.



The military industrial complex adds 1 to each strategic resource and this further increases the bonus to 4x (when originally Rich). There was another thread that mentioned a bugged announcement along the lines of :"Planet X has a resourcenode=4 deposit." Normally when you research the tech to reveal a new resource it would simply say that a certain planet has a Poor, Normal or Rich amount of the resource. Perhaps if you build the Industrial Complex and then uncover a Rich deposit the game no longer knows what to call it because it has 4 units instead of 3. Sorry this last bit is a bit off-topic.

This makes me want some kind of breakdown on the zoomed-in planetary screen of what is affecting the planet's FIDS... It'd make collecting information like that easier. In any case, thank you for the information. I'll be sure to prize Rich deposits of resources even more in the future.

I certainly would not have expected rich deposits to give 3x the benefit. Good catch! I just wish the universe level screen had hover help for resources.
