So I was trying to capture a system today and it takes like 20 turns to capture the system. Does the amount of fleet you have conquering a system matter or am I doing something wrong?

I think an increased number of ships can increase the speed (I haven't tested this since my fleets generally are between 3-5 so I haven't noticed). However there's a string of tech weapons in between the missile/beam trees that say something like "+X invasion power" and if you put that on ships, they'll take over systems faster.

Increas the invasion power and you will save a lot of time.

But the invasion moduls need tonnage what weakens you fleet agaisnt other fleets.

Invasion strength takes in a measure of invasion power combined with military strength. Having modules that increase invasion power will increase the invasion strength substantially more than military strength alone.

Also if the system you are attacking has improvements to defense then it will require significantly more strength to conquer the system at the speeds you want.

agreed with draczar

all you need to speed up the invasion process is by having more invasion power, just try the module that increase the invasion strength smiley: smile

I tend to have an invasion fleet (cruisers with mostly invasion modules) follow up my attack fleet, they would usually take over a system within 3-4 turns.

There's a simple matter that allows your main fleets to remain combat capable, while still capturing planets fast. Basically, make a ship that only uses Military invasion bonuses. Those drastically decrease invasion times. Yes, if they go up against an actual fleet of ships they're toast, but the answer to that is to have two lines of attack. The first line consists of your actual combat fleets, blockading planets. The second, interior line, consists of invasion ships, and is the one that actually flips planets.

I believe Cruisers get the best tonnage with regards to the Military power upgrades. Having a Hero with the Invasion upgrades can also be useful, though it's a bit of a steep investment for not too much benefit, in my opinion.
