Question. Is there a limit on the damage an enemy fleet will load its self with ?

For the last 200 turns the most damage one of their ships will load up with is 540 beam damage. I just fit loads of shields at least 600 and I never take a loss. I expected them to modify themselves which they have by increasing the kinetic deflection. Now some of my ships have low end kinetic weapons fitted to fill out the points.



So I was wonderig the following.



Is there a hard cap on damage for the NPC fleets ? I know its still alpha, but I can't help but feel sorry for them if this is the case.

Have I somehow confused them by using mixed weapons ?

The AI's choice in fleets is just not great. That's the issue really, I'm hoping they're improved in following releases.

I also noticed that all they do is increase their kinetic defence. My ships may have just s1 tier 1 kinetic weapon onboard but the AI seems to think this is what killing them and have equipoed their ships with up to 300 deflection but no shields.

I have had cases where they've focused on flak and not deflection. I think the issue is the AI doesn't always diversify its defenses until far later in the game.
