Choosing your fleets route

Hi,

I've had the following happen to me recently. I had three systems all interconnected to eachother with two wormholes and one string lane. When I wanted to travel from one system to the other by the string lane in between my ship decided it would move to the other system by wormhole first and then to the actual target system by a second wormhole jump.

While this was the fastest route (the string lane would have cost me about 2,5 turns) the initial wormhole jump brought me to a system owned by the enemy and they destroyed my fleet. Does anyone know a way around this? Should the default behaviour do this?

thanks

Hold shift while choosing which systems to go to, this queues your travel waypoints. The same can be done when using ctrl to travel in the deep space between systems by pressing and holding ctril+shift

Ctrl+shift to use warp? smiley: confused I found ctrl + right click enough to do so. Shift does indeed queue your travel waypoints. smiley: smile

Are you combining free travel with selecting your route system by system? Wouldn't this have your fleet, depending on the route, use warp to travel to adjacent systems instead of using the faster string that's right there?

I ment doing the ctrl+shift to queue warp travel waypoints, as per the latest patch that added that.

I used this to jump two string lanes that never connected to ambush another player's system from behind the front lines. It is incredibly handy, even if it is slower.

I'd have so much more fun with that feature, if I could just remember it existed. >_< I'm going to have to just leave sticky notes all over my monitor reminding me of these shortcuts.

Anyway, hopefully the original question was answered.
