So frustrated. I spend several hours building an empire and get a -50% movement, or minus area of influence, or reduction to FIDS. I want to turn this option off. I play casually for sandboxy mind numbing fun- i play on easy mode and am not ashamed to admit it. I want to know how to disable the option of Global random events so i can continue to enjoy this game smiley: smile

PS: i did a search and the only relevant thread i found was people voicing dissatisfaction with the events.

Only way I know of is to start a game, save, exit, open up the save file in a zip program (winrar works) and extract the one file in it, open that in a text editor of some sort (it's a raw XML file) and scroll allllll the way to the bottom. There's a chunk there called Achievements and one above it that I don't remember what it is called. Anyway, there's like 50 of them and all identical, except for what event and when it occurs. If you delete them (be sure to leave any other nodes alone) and rezip the file back into the .bin archive, it should reload and have no events.

We really need an easier way. Alpha Centauri had the Bell Curve option that disabled all random events, and after a while I never played with that option off.

When's Endless Space getting a Bell Curve option?

Wouldn't be such an issue if there were more random events and they weren't so devastating. Getting -80% sigh sucks so much.

There are actually more positive events than negative events (by my count on the wiki, about five or so more good events, give or take a couple due to ambiguous wording). For some reason, the bad events just seem to pop up more often.

Talking about "random" events... I had the -80% sight event in every game so far and always way after I researched the relevant tech, so its -80% every game, every turn until the end.

Eh, I've only had it once, but they shouldn't be permanent. This is the beta, and I have seen in the release notes that they're working on the random events. It's probably just an annoyance we'll have to deal with for a while until the devs have time to see what's going on.

The patch last week fixed the bug where random events persist forever.

Tested it with the -80% radar event in my last SP game and things DOES go back to normal after 15-20 turns.

I agree totally! Alpha Centauri was great for game customization.

I've analyzed the save file's a bit, and it appears that ALL events last for 20 turns or 1 turn (maybe the 1 in save file means forever?)

(I'm not 100% positive, but I'm quite sure)
