If this is a question that was already answered, I apologize. I looked through the FAQ and did a forum search, but nothing popped up that answered this, so I think it's safe to ask.



When you trade research with someone (or get new tech for yourself in a trade), you obviously get access to whatever that research unlock. It also is unlocked in the tech trees so you don't have to research it. Now, if you go and end that deal that gave you the research, do you lose the techs you had traded for, and now have to research them yourself?



I've been noticing in a lot of games recently that I'll trade some higher-level tech for a lot of luxury resources from the AI, but in a few turns, they always break the deals. I lose the resources, and they apparently keep the technology. I rarely trade for tech, as I manage to fly up the trees pretty quickly, so...If you end a deal that was giving you tech from another player, do you lose access to that tech until you research it for yourself?

You do not lose the technology when you break the deal.

Alright. Hmm...I guess the AI has gotten smarter, and now just breaks those deals to get their resources back, giving them tech for free. Oh joy, I can't bribe them out of everything now. I guess I have to start playing a bit smarter :P
