I am only playing my first game of Endless and am a little unsure about the diplomatic offers I have received. In my game as the Empire, I am apparently playing against 3 amoeba races (is that normal?). They have all offered my peace from the get go and have at various times offered diplomatic deals. What I am not sure about is whether they are giving me something for free or demanding something for free - I get an offer and it says Your terms: blank; Their terms: .



What does this then translate to? Does that mean I am giving them all of this resource for free? I have agreed to 4-5 of these deals. Also, in the deal summary screen, what does the "Penalty" column refer to?



Sorry for the thick question, but it isn't crystal clear to me.

The trade dialog is still a little confusing, and the AI's still sometimes offer weird deals. It is pretty common to have the AI demand something for free, where the "you" column gives some resource, and the "them" column is blank. I always reject these deals, I do not *think* there is a diplomatic penalty for this. There is also no "counteroffer" button, which would be nice.



(EDIT ... err, that is the opposite of what you describe. I have never seen the AI offer something for free, but that does not mean it is impossible. Can you capture a screenshot of the next one you see, and attach it to a post?)



The "penalty" column for completed deals shows the diplomatic penalty you would get, if you were to break the deal. Usually this starts at -50, or some value, and decreases slightly (ie, towards zero) each turn. So if you make a deal and then immediately break it, you get a -50 diplomacy penalty with that AI. But if you wait 30-40 turns and then break the deal, the penalty might be only -10.

Here you go Davea. As you can see I have five current deals with the different colours of Amoeba.



Three of them only have something under their terms; one has a resource under both our terms and one has payments from me that are greyed out.

Ah, nevermind, I understand now, I am giving up these resources. I cancelled one of the deals and the amount of resource available to me has gone up. Thanks for your help nonetheless.
