maybe i missed something, but my fleet size is stuck at 6, I am around turn 160, the AI seems to be able to go up to a fleet size of 11 and is basically wiping the universe with me, am I missing something in the research tree? I haven't found a research button that increases fleet size yet and I am up to Leviathan in ship size ( don't have one build yet though) also the AI seems to be able to ignore the paths between systems and fly wherever, I assume that's in the research somewhere?

You can do both of these things by researching in the tech tree. Fleet size increases are on the left, and fleet movement increases (that let you ignore cosmic strings) are on the bottom.

Search C3 and C4 on the left tech tree. They upgrade your fleet size. I'm currently sitting at 15.

On the Strategy Guides sub forum I attached a post to a thread about tips with a request for people to add their must have technologies, when to research them, etc etc

I would think that fleet CP techs would qualify
