So been trying to break into this genre for the last decade and I think I reached an age (27) and have the patience to really enjoy. So far ES is great and that's considering the only game I completed I lost on easy!



So obviously I'm still learning the fundamentals.



I was just playing a game as Empire - it would not let me do the improvement to turn industry to science or industry to dust - would just have an infinite symbol there. Any ideas why?



Also - when I upgrade one of my ship models I can't seem to get the option to retrofit my old ships to upgrade them. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

It's supposed to have an infinite symbol - it never actually completes. It's still working, don't worry.



For retrofitting, change the design (modify it, not make a new one), then go to the military screen at the top left (only place you can retrofit iirc), and select the fleet/s you want to retrofit. You need some amount of dust.
