Hi guys,



Having great fun with the game, however....



Still having difficulty with diplomacy. The only options i get are to declare war....everything is empty.

I have lots of resources (anti-matter etc) with which to swap with another race, but cannot do it. I have however had them ask me to swap items.....



What am i missing? Is there some research i need to complete first to enable me to deal with other races?

You're exactly right that there are technologies you need to research in order to unlock additional diplomatic options. These are all found in the left tech tree. For instance, relativistic economics unlocks xenolinguistics which allows you to offer peace or call for a cease fire. After that you can research relativistic markets which unlocks alien security, unlocking further trade and diplomatic options. Later you can research inter-species HR which will allow you to form alliances.
