Playing Spiral 4, 4 player. I've made alliances with 2 factions. My fleets eliminate my enemies and when I think invasion should begin my ally seems to take over the invasion process. I can be alone(just my fleet) in an enemy star system and have my outline around the planets ring however my ally seems to be able to fly in and take over in this case too. I originally thought they could do this because they had a larger fleet in the system but I had the larger fleet in some of these cases. How does invasion work when allies are present or any other tips that you deem helpful re: invasion? Is there something I have to do to initiate the invasion after I've defeated the systems forces?

First, sorry if it is a stupid question, but you are clicking the invasion button (two fists) to begin an invasion, correct? Otherwise your fleets are just sitting there.



Let's look at the two different situations. A. You and an allied fleet are both in a system, enemy fleets are gone, and you want to begin an invasion. B. You are alone in a system, you start an invasion, and an ally takes it over.



For (A), it is *possible* that since the game has simultaneous turns, the following happens: 1. You defeat the last enemy fleet. 2. You put your finger on the invasion button to start the invasion. 3. Your ally AI, who is a computer and faster than you, pushes its own invasion button 4. You are locked out of the invasion. Is this possible? This one, I am not sure how to prevent.



For (B), I don't think this can happen. Please check. If you see it, please start a thread in the tech support forum with a save game, so we can load the save game and reproduce the problem. That would be a bug. From what I have seen, if you have an invasion already underway, nothing can prevent it, except your fleet leaving / getting destroyed or you uncheck the invasion button yourself.
