I noticed some technologies grant an ability to "spy" on enemy forces. It's even mentioned in the Adventurer hero class. How is this accomplished, and what exactly does it do?

i think it works like this. normally you have to have a fleet in the same system in which the enemy fleet is, to see their defense and offense options (laser, kinect, etc). Perhaps with the spy building in the system, you can see that without having a fleet in the same system.

When you have a collaborator network, it allows you to see the details of enemy fleets in your system advance to any fights. Tbh they are kind of worthless right now a ramming a scout into the enemy fleet does the same and doesn't cost upkeep.

Regarding the Adventurer class heroes, they don't have an innate ability to spy. What they do have is access to specific abilities that aid in spying. The ability Foresight increases the sensor range of the hero's fleet. One I just got recently is pretty cool. Master Hacker allows the hero to access an enemy's entire sensor network (you must be in orbit around an enemy system at the time).

An expansion on the game's espionage system is, I hope, one of the first things they work on. It is woefully shallow, but holds promise with what can be done with some development time.
