Why can't I invade.

I'm playing my 4th game right now. Have won the 2nd and 3rd by a Domination-Victory. So I indeed should know how invasions work. Right?

Well, in my current game I (playing as the Horatio) am trying to invade a system of the Cravers. My fleet hangs around their border-system for quite a while with the "Doublefist" being active all the time. But the circle did not even start switching colours. Am I overseeing something?

Where is the actual invasion-mechanics described and where can I find an answer as for what reasons it does not seem to work this time?

You need to have enough invasion strength to overcome their defenses. Sadly the game doesnt state the invasion strength anywhere. You can build ships with invasion modules although I prefer to just keep attack fleets with repair ships.

Yeah, USUALLY when something like that happens, you need to either put a bunch more ships there, or build a special fleet of ships with invasion mods and send IT.

There is, however, also a bug where the computer has 'ghost' ships there - a fleet that's not actually showing up on the map. Saving and reloading typically fixes that one, however.

For completeness, it could also be that the enemy has a number of system improvements such as bunkers. If your invasion strength is less than the invasion defense, then nothing will happen. A hover help with your strength and the defense strength would be so nice.
