Hi, I'm new to endless space.

just played 3 games starting last week... 1 on n00b (smiley: lol.png" alt="smiley: smiley: lol" title="smiley: lol" />), 1 on easy, and now 1 on normal I have a few questions i'm hoping someone can help with.

1. How do the moon buildings work, once I have surveyed a moon I can build structures that give me +1 food per surveyed moon and another for +1 Dust. Is that 1 per population on the planet the moon orbits or is it just 1 food/dust per moon? I am not sure so I have been building them in systems that have more than 1 moon.

2. Do trade bonuses stack? like in my last game i had the custom trait that gave me 30% trade bonus per cooperation agreement and I had 5 of those, thats 150%, plus i had the diplomats custom trait for another 50% I believe, plus I had (I think) 70% from hero for a total of 270%... plus I had all the trade related structures built and they offered a bunch of % bonuses... I'm sure I was over 300%... do they stack?

3. while im on the subject of trade do the system dust % bonuses have any effect on it? If I get a system boosting Dust % bonus will that compile both my trade AND system dust revenue, or is it just the dust from the planets?

4. When creating a custom faction, and you select an affinity, do you also receive the diplomatic alignment of said affinity? If for example i select the United Empires affinity but I want to play peacefully will it still be harder for me to make friends with other factions because of UE's evil diplomatic alignment?

1. Yes it per population on planets with a moon, per surveyed served moon.

2. Yep, your a true Ferengi http://www.sjtrek.com/trek/rules/

4.Nope, not that the alignment affects the game currently anyway.

I answered what i could.

1) Yep, per pop on every planet with a surveyed moon.

2) Sure do. Custom races with lots of improvements + corporate hero can get hilarious amounts of trade.

3) No. This is both good and bad. You can take the -30% dust malus and rely on trade, and also low taxes won't ruin your trade income. The downside is the opposite of course.

4) No idea, does alignment even do anything for sure? I figured it was just a flavor thing, telling you what sort of race they are.

I've only seen one affect from alignment: Evil races get positive diplomatic modifiers toward you if your fleet is stronger than theirs and negative if it's weaker. Good races reverse that. Obviously this only applies to AI civs.

With regards to number 3 are you saying that high taxes will ruin trade income?

No, they are completely unconnected. 0% tax, 100% tax, your trade income won't change.

Nice in some ways - you can take -30% dust malus and drop taxes for the approval bonuses and still survive on trade dust.

The downside is that +dust bonus won't help your trade, the wit on your hero won't help it etc.

This actually cleared some stuff up for me, so thanks.

Looks like it might sometimes be actually worthwhile building 'clean sweeping' on systems with only one moon in them.
