Ill be honest im not really digging the card system for battles having to hurry up and look at their weapons and defenses, then your own, and having to pick cards as fast as possible, while interesting just isnt really my taste. If you assign auto for battles does the card picking not even take place, or does it just happen automatically, also is auto resolving reasonable or does it mean certain death? Thanks!.

Generally I find I'm good enough with the cards that I usually do better in manual battles. That said, you could definiately play the game on auto and probably do just fine.

You pay for real world time speed with the inability to strategically react during each phase to changing conditions. I for one always do manuals as my rig loads up the battles near instantly and I aim for long range phase obliteration.

Well for me, I just ensure I have BOTH the advantage in military power and weapons tech to guarantee my successful wins in auto battles.

also depends on your race. i for one always use cheap expandable ships becausei chose stuff like wasted space and stuff, so i auto battles because i just keep producing enough of them until i finally get the upper hand. admitedly i only play on serious so far but it never mattered so far.

I usually play manual when i have some disadvantage or when I have a low advantage, but when victory is certain I play auto.

Just look at the stats at the end of the first battle, that usually shows the choice of the AI all over that particular game phase. Then you can choose the next times your weapons an defenses right away, lean back and enjoy the battle.

Also, each fleet has a "battle actions" button which you can click outside of combat. This shows all the available cards, so you can study them for as long as you like.
