Trading- Consideration of trade worth

Hi,

When I try to trade equaly points worth of technology with an NPC it always says the trade is in my advantage. I need to tripple or even quadruple the points to move the pointer in the middle.

Can anybody explain this to me?

In most 4x games including this one, the AI isn't keen on trading tech unless they come out significantly ahead. Also, you might note that it values different KINDS of techs differently - the AI loves weapon techs, for example, but really doesn't care too much about trading for faster movement.

Tech trading is partially broken along with some other aspects of diplomacy. While what Taliesyn says is correct and the AI will always try to get an unfair deal (something that needs to change IMO, it's too much) there are cases where you can massively cheat the AI, trading two 600 techs for one 4000, for instance. Basically, diplomacy needs an overhaul.
