Regarding FIDS generation, I'm playing against newbie AI's, my score is comparatively high, my fleet is solid, my research top, I have the most planets, but my FIDS score is bottom of the rankings!



I construct all the industry/manufacturing improvements I can, as well as the scientific improvements available, I build exploitation on the planets that are most suited, e.g. the financial exploitation on arid, science on barren etc, I also colonise all the planets in a system and keep the people happy with the happiness improvements and a low tax rate keeping my people at or near fervent. I don't really build finacial improvements aside from exploitation, as im not into the whole trade route idea, and there aren't any non trade financial improvements that really grab me.



What am I doing wrong!?

Usually this is because your population is much less, and usually this is because you have not prioritized food and happiness. It is a little odd, but if you save the game and "quit", the quit screen has a number of tabs. Each tab has a comparison of one statistic (such as population) for each race.

davea is right. High population implies high FIDS and vice-versa.



Also, you said you didn't build any dust improvement. You should build them if you wish that your FIDS rise.
