I'm just curious if there's a demo available for this game so I can try it out and see if it's worth investing $34 in?

The game looks promising, but it's one of those types that you need to play to tell if it's "fun" for you, also a demo will let me check and see if it installs & runs smoothly on windows XP SP2

If a demo's not out yet, is there plans for one in the future?

There is unfortunately no demo for Endless Space. Not sure about future plans but we will get more info on that in the upcoming weeks. smiley: smile

I would suggest you take a look at videos: our trailers (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit), our gameplay videos (everywhere on Youtube).

The you tube videos look very promising, and now the only thing that's making me hesitate is not knowing if it will install/run on XP sp2. (Does it use .net 4.0 at all? Or have a version check to see if the machine is on SP3?)

If indeed it will run on my machine I'll certainly be picking it up. smiley: biggrin

That's just the thing, I run a lot of games in SP2 that say they require minimum SP3 and not had any issues. (Saints Row 3, Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion, Diablo III etc..) Hence my inquiry if it uses dot.4.0 for the install or does a version check to see if the machine uses xpsp3 at all?

If not, then most likely it'll run just fine on SP2, regardless of the listed minimum requirement. (Which is what a demo would let me know, or if someone else has ran it on a machine with sp2, or a virtual machine running sp2.)

I'll leave this thread open for a while in case someone has played it on SP2 to confirm this.

Thanks, all I really need is for a dev to let me know if it uses .net 4.0 and if it does any version check to see if the PC is running sp3?

If the answer is no to both of these then it should run fine on Sp2 smiley: cool

Update:

After seeing the disaster Legends of Pegasus turned out to be I decided to take a chance Endless Space would run on XP sp2 and grabbed the Emperor edition.

After playing it for around 4 hours with zero issues I can happily confirm for those still wondering, it does indeed run on XP SP2. smiley: biggrin
