I'm just starting my first game, and I've explored all the systems I can explore in my initial sector of space. I'm trying to move to one of the explored systems without any colonies so I can start a colony there, but I can't figure out a way to get my fleet to move there, since there doesn't seem to be any "Go To System" option that I can find.

Help, please. And try not to mock me too much.

Please clarify your question; how did you explore your sector of space without moving your scout around?

The steps to colonizing a system are:

1. Select a ship capable of colonizing systems. You always start with one of these.

2. Right click on the system you want to colonize

3. End the turns until your ship has arrived

4. Click on the ship and click on the blinking colonize button, and select the planet.

Probably by using the new auto explore function? ^^

Moved to the FAQ as an answered question, thx Idleray for answering it.

And while we're at it - To get outside of your constellation through wormholes you need the Casimir Effect technology in the bottom tech tree. smiley: smile

I have my colony ship. I select the system I want to head for, and I see all the little waypoint dots on the way to the system. I've given it about ten turns, and nothing seems to have happened.

Please check for the blinking "L shift" text at the top of your screen. Assuming it is there, press the shift key. This happens frequently when you use the steam overlay; steam "lies" to the game about whether shift is pressed. Please see the sticky welcome thread in the tech support forum for the answer to additional frequently asked questions.

Same problem, steam is very annoying when this game starts. Glad to see there is a simple solution. I was restarting the game when this happened.

basically, if an existing fleet is refusing to move, there are 4 things to look for:

1. A shift-key being pressed (well, the game thinging that it's pressed), even if you don't see the L shift or R shift flashing, try tapping a shift button on your keyboard, just to be sure.

2. You are being blockaded by a different factions fleet.

3. You are trying to pass a worm-gate without Advanced Casimir Effect researched

4. You are out of movement points.

Once you build new shift on your system, they will be in the hangar, before you can move them, you need to create a new fleet for them (or assign them to an existing one). This is easiest done by just pressing the "Create" button.

5. You are trying to move into a foreign influence-sphere during Cold-War

Btw. I really think the game should tell you that and why you can't move if that's the case.
