How do I prevent all allies from breaking deals?

Every time I try to play a solo game with a diplomacy emphasis, I get several other races to agree to coop agreements, but then randomly, after about 10 turns, EVERY race with cooperative agreements with me break the deals all at once. I could understand one or two, but EVERYONE breaking the agreement at the same exact time, no matter how nice I've been to them? What do I do to prevent this, or is diplomacy just not working right now?

I had the same problem with trading my technology for dust every turn, I get rich for a little, but they break off the trade pretty soon and I end up getting nothing while they keep my technology. The best way I know to prevent this is to make them dependent on you: make sure you always get each strategic resource first and trade it to them for anything unreturnable, they won't dare break off the trade and it will sort of carry over to other deals.

@ illithidbane, what is your approval rating with the races, and them with each other? If they mostly hate you, they may agree to the agreement but then decide it was a bad idea. Usually I let open borders raise their approval for a little while first. Also, I usually avoid trading tech for resources; I trade tech for tech or straight dust (which can't be hurt by breaking) or resource for resource.

Maybe they've done done that because they don't like your power. This happens quite frequently in any game, so the weaker factions tend to unite against stronger ones and vice-versa, and thats why they've broken those deals.

Yeah, I'm usually winning when this happens, with around a -25 rating with the races in question, but even if I'm -10 with one race and -40 with another, they'll all break off with me at the same time. It feels like there's some trigger in the code that makes races want to break agreements, then they ALL break rather than each weighing the options individually. Everyone loves me or everyone hates me. I'm feeling like I may as well just stick with war and cold wars.

It is an oversight if not outright bug that the game does not inform you when another empire breaks a treaty.
