Is it possible? I know you can name the ship type, but I've never managed to find a way to name individual ships (like a capitol ship named Oceanus Sigma IV). I suppose it is possible to go through all the trouble to create a new fleet named "Oceanus Sigma IV" and create my ship. So any help on an easier way?

Nope. You can only create a new ship type with the new name.
