Turn on "Auto Upgrade Ship Design in Queue." Just trust me, turn it on!



Not only does it save time going through your production worlds in replacing your older design with your newer one, but it preserves the production of ships currently in-progress and applies them to the new design, which you cannot do by manually replacing ships. This, to me, makes it even more worth your while to go to your Endless Space options menu and check "Auto Upgrade Ship Design in Queue!"



I actually did not notice this option before. Was it added in a recent patch?

What? That option is actually in the game? I know what option I'll look for tonigh.

It was added in the last patch, 1.0.16



Edit: Its not in the release notes it seems actually.

The feature was actually added in 1.0.9 without a switch to control it; it was always on. Some players complained that they wanted the previous behavior back. For example, you may be building some older, cheaper ships as back line defense fleets and you don't want them all switched to the newer, more expensive one. So in 1.0.14 they took it out. In 1.0.16 they have put it back along with a switch to control it, but they missed this in the release notes.
