Anyway, I was wondering how and to what extent having both the racial special version of a building and the normal version of a building on a single planet can stack?



This can happen when you conquer planets with racial specific buildings built, and then build your own standard version of the buildings, or with the standard version of the building, and you build your racial specific upgrade.



In what case are you paying the upkeep? In what case are you actually gaining some benefit from having any building double stacked? Is it the same with the AI? Has anyone done any tests? What should you scrap or not scrap? What overrides what, and to what benefit?



I am really curious about this, thanks!

If my observations are right, the effect of the building as well as the maintancance-cost do just stack.



Depending on the case this might or might not be good. Conquering an Automaton-Building that gives you more interest for your stacked industry probably is not something you would like to keep when your race can't stack industry, while a Sophon-Science-Building that gives you more science alsways is a good thing.



Also there is no difference if an AI captures a building... besides the difference that the AI cannot scrap buildings.

What about all the myriad population-increasing buildings? What happens if you have ALL of them? How high can pop for different planet types get??

The search by author works great for me, I use it all the time.



There is only one race-specific population increasing building, the Horatio stable habitats. So I guess you could get an extra +1 by conquering a horatio planet and then building living habitats.
