At the end of the battle when you are back at the main screen looking at the universe, there is an alert on the right-hand side with wings on it; these are battle alerts and if you click on them there is a wealth of information regarding the battle. You can see how much damage you dealt vs the enemy, how much damage per weapon type, and also how much damage you negated through shields, flak, etc.
