can someone explain what +100% Ownership gain per System on Empire does in the game?



i've tried taking over planets as horatio and as the pilgrims, and i can't see any difference. they both start out at 8% ownership and gain 8% per turn.



also, as horatio i capped a system with the glittering halls:







and i saved the game. the first try i immediately colonized the planet and bought out construction of the glittering halls and installed a hero with +70 happiness. the second time i didn't do any of that. they both went along at the same pace.



am i missing something?

If I'm not mistaken that bonus only comes into effect if an enemy fleet tries to invade. You loose X ownership per turn while they are invading, once they stop your recovery is faster than it would be without.



I think the idea is that when under attack your people can go into hiding and come out again once it's safe.
