I'm confused by the flagged system events

I recently played the game again after the most recent changes. I see that there are now flags on some of the systems, and that exploring those systems trigger random events. Many of them seem self-explanatory, but many are confusing. For example, I'll see one +happiness (or +food or whatever) on system for 20 turns. How do I get that bonus? I click on the system, and it's not flagged with the bonus. Or is it some random system that I own? Which one?



Similarly, I'll see something like bonus experience on fleet. But there's no leader on the fleet. At other times I'll get one that says that nothing happened because I have no leader on the fleet. I get the second one, but what actually is happening in the first one, because Fleets don't have experience, only leaders do (or do they?).

Most of the event bonuses effect the system that it was found on. Its random sometimes they can be good sometimes they can be bad. Roll of the dice ><

Ships can gain experience just like hero's. Again some of the events only effect ships, while others effect the heros.



Hope that made sense, i'm abit nackered right now....

That doesn't make them all that useful then, since I'm finding them when my initial explorer ships randomly find them. If they only last 5 turns, (or even 20 at the max) how the heck am I supposed to take advantage of that? Also, most of the systems are flagged, but if you look at the system after you've explored them, they don't show any bonus that I can tell. So if your explanation is correct, the so-called good bonuses (except for, maybe, the random ship) are worthless because 90% of them are impossible to exploit.

Where is the experience displayed, and what is its affect then? I've seen heroes level up but never have I seen a ship level up.

Ship XP is next to their HP, you don't get to chose anything when they level (it just unceremoniously happens). They also have a red icon indicator of their level similar to army stripes. A ships level gives it a % increase to it's effectiveness (attack/defence).



And yes, events that give bonuses to the system you just discovered with a scout ship are really annoying, especially as they always happen early when you often only have 2-3 systems under your control and you couldn't rush to colonise it in time even if you wanted to.

Yes, i agree with that. Would be nice if the turn till they expire on x system would only start once colonised.



I thought they were listed in the Empire traits effects list... will need to double check.

The event that brings pirates is just crazy. No one can handle several fleets on turn 3.
