I'm guessing for those that don't like beards.



Seriously though, I'm not sure why they created the 2D art for a race and didn't change anything for them from the UE. All we really got was a new appearance to select for custom races, that still uses the UE ship design. Hopefully they will expand on it.

The Sheredyn also have a different color scheme on their ships in combat and a different hologram in the diplomacy screen as well.

Indeed, I think it's just effectively a bonus 'skin' for the UE; you get different ship texture colour themes and in-game character icons, otherwise it's the same faction.

If you want, the faction can be modded to have some different traits, but then you can always just make a custom faction anyway.
