Hello!

First of all, I love "Endless Space". This game is awesome! I have that for 2 days and spend a lot of hours [yepiamstudent] playing that. But, i have some question anyway and i hope you will help me.

1. Which race would you like to suggest for learning the game or it doesn't matter? I play Amoeba [diplomacy,economy..seemspeacfullyforthebeginning].

2. How can i 'upgrade' my fleets into new design? Or, is it possible? It's hard to 'scrap' whole fleet coz i have crated much better 'design' smiley: frown

3. Are there any criterias to be in relation with another emipre 'over my dead body' ? I'd like to have some fun by trading solar systems smiley: smile

4. Do you try to terraform your planets into the highest level like ocean/terrain? What about planet's specialisations? Create everywhere for food in that case? The industry has the biggest for lava's type [oriamwrong].. What about end-game phase?

5. Is it normal [orbug] that in mid/end phase AI doesn't want to exchange anything for dust [flat/perround]? I try to always trade technologies with another empires but in case to share mine [better] for weakier ones.. Okay, back to question.

6. Could you give me some link to quide about manual battles? i tried one yesterday [itlooksAMAZING!] but i was completely beaten by weaker opponent smiley: biggrin

7. Do you try to aim for 0% tax? I take the best benefits from that, but i saw a lot of movies at youtube where everyone was keeping their taxes near 25-40% :O

8. My english isn't well so i have some problems with understantding explanation of Temple at the Moon. can someone help?

I would be so gratefull for every help and advice!

I don't know, sorry smiley: frown

In the military screen where you can see your designs, on the left side is a list of all your fleets.

For fleets that are in a friendly system (one you've colonized), you can click on the fleet from that view, and then there is a "retrofit" button. This costs dust.

3. Are there any criterias to be in relation with another emipre 'over my dead body' ? I'd like to have some fun by trading solar systems smiley: smile

Do you mean you want war? There is a declare war option when you are talking to another race.

For the first while, you won't have any terraforming techs. Once you do get good terraforming techs (and the resources required to use them), you should terraform based on your needs.

E.g., if you have a desert planet, you should probably upgrade it to arid.

You can see the stats of each planet type by hovering your mouse over the name of the planet type (e.g., over 'lava planet'). So, you can decide which terraforming you want.

It can be good to focus a particular system on one thing. E.g., science. In that case, you would want to terraform to high science per population planet types.

If you want to focus a system on industry, then high industry per population. And so on.

5. Is it normal [orbug] that in mid/end phase AI doesn't want to exchange anything for dust [flat/perround]? I try to always trade technologies with another empires but in case to share mine [better] for weakier ones.. Okay, back to question.

Not sure, I usually play on endless war (no peace, no trading with AI)

6. Could you give me some link to quide about manual battles? i tried one yesterday [itlooksAMAZING!] but i was completely beaten by weaker opponent smiley: biggrin

I don't have a link to a manual battle guide, but:

- you can view your fleet's battle action before hand. Select the fleet from the main galaxy view, and in the bottom left there will be a button to view battle actions. This way you can familiarize yourself with them before the heat of battle.

- you can view your opponent's ship's weapons and defenses before actually starting the battle by hovering your mouse over the enemy ship types.

- then you should pick battle cards which help your ships against the enemy. E.g., if the enemy has a lot of missiles, and your ships are equipped with good missile defense already, then maybe you just want an offensive option. If your ships are not very well equipped to deal with missiles, you may want to choose a defensive option that helps against missiles.

7. Do you try to aim for 0% tax? I take the best benefits from that, but i saw a lot of movies at youtube where everyone was keeping their taxes near 25-40% :O

If you are playing the Sophons, then you want as low a tax rate as possible. They gain bonus science from a low tax rate.

With other races, I try to keep the tax rate as high as possible while still being in "fervent" empire approval, as that gives a bonus to your FIDS (food, industry, dust, science)

As you research approval technologies in the left tech tree and build them in your systems, you'll be able to raise taxes more while still retaining the fervent bonus.

8. My english isn't well so i have some problems with understantding explanation of Temple at the Moon. can someone help?

I don't know what the description is off the top of my head... if you post the description I may be able to help.

I meant when i'd like to trade with another races, i can exchange whole solar system but there is require to have contact with nation as a 'over my deadbody...' ^^

ad4. So terraform whole system for one of the FIDS. Thanks a lot, it was big problem for me to decide to which path to follow.

ad6. In that case, you don't use auto-upgrade, right? You make designs at your own with your own ideas for offensive types of weapon and defens? I used only auto-upgrades, it seems it was big mistake then..

Just, what is the role of the Temple? I couldn't find any benefits smiley: frown

Thanks a lot for help and fast respond!

Welcome smiley: smile Glad you're enjoying the game, I'll try to give my perspective to your questions.

Amoeba isn't a bad choice, United Empire is also pretty straight forward in the way you play them and the tech available (each race has their own unique tech from the research tree, they are coloured orange rather than grey).

Generally it doesn't matter, but some races have distinctive play styles that if you don't cater for would make the game more difficult than it otherwise would be.

If you modify an existing design (for a ship in a fleet), you can then upgrade all ships of that design when they are in system you control at the cost of dust.

You can't upgrade an explorer to a defender though, for example.

That's complicated, there was a thread discussing that recently. If you search for it you should find it.

It's often a good idea to specialise your systems, how specialist is up to you. You could go all arid and finance exploitation, or all lava with industry exploitation. It generally depends on what you need, is approval an issue, got enough growth, industry and dust?

Lava is the best for industry, some system improvements also build on that further, but Jungle isn't bad either and give more in other areas. It depends how specialised you want to go with a particular system.

Barren planets are the main ones I'll terraform no matter what, the rest needs consideration. Only thing barren are good for is science exploitation and Arctic are better for that (eventually ocean).

There are a few improvements that compensate certain planets inadequacies, but by the time you can terraform, it's often best to do so, generally speaking, and assuming you don't have more important things to build.

AI trade based on what they need. unless they have negative dust per turn, they generally aren't that interested in it. tech for tech trades with AI are notoriously biased, requiring you to hand over considerably better tech for really poor returns.

Consider trading resources, AI always strive to have 4 of things, if you've got 5+ and they are less than 3 of that, they'll generally like it.

Not sure on this, I just muddled through on my own, it's quite intuative eventually, slightly luck based but you can minimise that with carefully selecting cards to avoid obvious counters. Check the guide section though, there are plenty of topics covered.

It's less about tax%, more about approval. Ideally you want planets at least content, better if your dust income is good enough.

Game difficulty makes this harder to balance.

As the game goes on you'll find your tax will go up and up, as your people are so well cared for and happy that they are fine giving you 70%+ tax

Just try and stop your systems going unhappy if you can, mostly it depends on your finances. If you can have a fervent empire with ecstatic systems, go for it, but usually it's hard to keep your dust income going during the early game.

Generally less than 20% tax causes your income to take a painful nose dive, but it's very situational (difficulty settings, race, events, approval, turn# etc.)

Not sure which bit you don't understand, maybe the wiki would be clearer: http://endlessspace.wikia.com/wiki/Temple

Hope this helped, good luck smiley: biggrin
